Power has been restored to all but about 40 Grove City residents who lost their electricity after the April 3 tornado that hit the community.
"It's expected that power will be restored to everybody by the end of today or Tuesday," Don Walters, the city's community-relations manager said Monday morning, April 9.
"If everything goes well, our crews and AEP will be out Tuesday cleaning up Orders Road," he said. "It's a bit muddy there from when the power company was getting the poles back up."
Orders Road, from Old Haughn Road to Hoover Road, is expected to remain closed through the day, and Hoover Road north of Orders Road to Gershwin Avenue likely will remain closed through April 10, Walters said.
About 450 homes were damaged by the storm, he said.
"The type of damage runs the gamut, but most of it is roofs, windows or siding damage," Walters said.
Most residents have been able to return to their homes, he said.
Three homes remain uninhabitable.
A cost estimate of the total damage caused by the tornado still is being determined, he said.
No injuries were caused by the storm, Jackson Township fire Chief Randy Little said.
After the storm hit, fire crews completed a risk assessment, making sure there were no injuries, he said.
The fire department worked with Grove City police and the American Red Cross to evacuate some residents who were in homes with no power and taking them to a shelter set up at the Grove City YMCA, Little said.
