VIJAYAWADA: The Education department has decided to upgrade 160 model schools in the State into model Intermediate colleges from the 2018-19 academic year. As many as 16 schools in Krishna and Guntur districts are on the list. As many as 12,800 Inter seats are available in all these 16 model Intermediate colleges.

The Central government in participation with the State government under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA)  had established model schools in various villages across the State in order to teach students in English medium.

“Every year, all the model schools in the State are achieving 100 per cent pass percentage in the SSC examination. The teachers are highly qualified and they provide quality education to the students. In fact, many model schools are better than the private schools. The students are happy to know that the model schools are taking admissions for intermediate from this year,”said B Mohan Prasad, principal of a model school in Krishna district. Students who cleared 10th class with over 70 per cent marks are eligible to apply for admissions in the model Intermediate colleges.

The applications are already available in the website of AP Model schools and the Commissionerate of School Education. Interested students can submit filled up application through Mee Seva centres, AP online or they can also visit the nearby model school and submit the application directly. All the applications must be submitted on May 30 and May 31. Meanwhile, applications are invited for CEC, BIPC, MPC, and MEC groups for the 2018-19 academic year.

As many as 20 seats are allocated for each group in each school. As many as 12,800 seats are available for these courses in 160 model colleges across the State. In Guntur district, 1,120 seats are available in 14 model schools and 160 seats are available in two model schools in Krishna district.  The final list of the selected candidates will be published by June 5-6 and the classes will be started from June 11.
