24,000 write JEE Main in city, surroundings

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), Main 2018 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) saw crowds of students outside the examination centres on Sunday. In the morning session (9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.) of the total 24,900 students registered, 461 were absent. The exam was conducted in 45 centres in Vijayawada, Gannavaram and Vuyyuru under the guidance of 50 observers, said the CBSE Joint Secretary, Delhi, Ramshankar and city coordinator Bhavanarayana.

In the afternoon session (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.), aspirants for B.Arch courses took the test in 10 centres.

A total 7,440 students had registered but 1,262 of them remained absent.
