A surge in UK visitor numbers from September to December 2017 has been reported by Visit Azores. The number of UK tourists increased by 14.6 per cent in comparison to the same period in 2016. T
here was also a rise in length of stays, with overnight UK visitors up 17.4 per cent for room nights and the number of overnight stays by UK tourists totaled to 14,688, whilst the number of visitors has grown to 4,528.
Azores will get even more accessible to the Brits with the new seasonal Ryanair route from Manchester Airport to Ponta Delgada, the capital of Sao Miguel which will be launched between June to October 2018.
A spokesperson for the Azores Tourism Board stated that it was an incredibly exciting time for Azores and the rise in visitor numbers from the UK is a testament to their efforts in promoting the destination.
He was thrilled to see a growing interest in our country as Azores offers an incredible mix of experiences for all ages, including unique nature and wildlife activities. It also has rich cultural offerings and unexpected food delicacies.
