Smartphones for woman farmers: Min

BERHAMPUR: In a welcome move, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Surya Narayan Patra on Sunday said that the State Government would provide android phones to women farmers. He made this announcement here during his trip to the city for inaugurating a web channel and attending the 50th annual general body meeting of Ganjam Chamber of Commerce.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already approved the proposal of providing android phones to women farmers for their empowerment,” the Minister said. The Government would soon make a formal announcement in this regard, he added. The smart phones will enable the women farmers to have access to information related to agriculture. The beneficiaries would have to apply online for availing the free phone facility, he added.
