Special children give vent to creativity through paintings

“It is our responsibility to promote special children and give them an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents,” said minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude while speaking at the inaugural function of the art exhibition cum sale held at the Art Gallery, Kala Academy, Panaji.

He further said that it is nice to see children making an effort to bring out their talent. “We have to direct these children in the right way so that they can take proper decisions. If we are unable to give 10 children attention then there is no meaning of being a human,” said Gaude.

He added: “There is a need to accept challenge. If god takes from one hand, he gives from the other, so one needs to make an attempt and those who make an attempt will never fail.”

The exhibition-cum-sale titled ‘Chitraved’ has more than 100 paintings on display done by students of the Sanjay Centres across Goa namely Curchorem, Vasco and two in Porvorim. The proceeds from the sale of the paintings will be given to the respective students. Chairman of Sanjay Centre, Porvorim, Guruprasad Pawaskar said: “This exhibition is a result of the hard work these students put in the last three months with support of their teachers.” He added that the concept of the exhibition cum sale was developed when CM Manohar Parrikar visited their school and suggested that they hold such an exhibition.

Requesting the general public to visit the exhibition, Pawaskar said that people should come and see the creativity of these children that has been put in these paintings.
