Span of red zone to be reduced

The AAI has made it clear that it will be reducing the span of the red zone in the Colour Coded Zoning Map for the city, in consultation with the city Corporation. The AAI stated this in its reply to a tweet from Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu regarding the issue.

Shashi Tharoor, MP, had earlier raised the issue with the Minister

Mayor V.K. Prasanth, in a statement, said the AAI’s decision to hold consultations with the local body was a result of the collective efforts to resolve the issue. The Corporation had earlier requested the AAI to allow the construction of residential buildings up to two storeys in the areas coming under the red zone in the Colour Coded Zoning Map without obtaining NOC (No-Objection Certificates) from the AAI.

The local body also said that the buildings that have been already completed had to be given occupancy certificates without NOC. It requested the AAI to provide access to the software to measure the coordinates and height of a proposed building.
