Congress govt. could not do in 10 years what Gowda could do during his tenure as PM: Revanna

Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has hit out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for their repeated comments ridiculing the Janata Dal (Secular) as a B-team of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking at a rally in Belur, on Monday, Mr. Gowda said: “When we were in power, we took care of all sections of society. The people will reply to their comments in the elections.”

Congress leaders had been repeatedly stating that their party would win all seven seats in the district. “People of the district will decide the plight of the party, not the Congress leaders. We may be facing a shortage of funds to face the elections, but people are with us,” he said.

He also said Bhavani Revanna, zilla panchayatmember and wife of party leader H.D. Revanna, and Prajwal Revanna would campaign extensively in Belur constituency.

Party’s district president K.S. Lingesh is the party candidate in Belur.

Mr. Revanna said the Congress had been losing its base in the State. During the Congress rule, there was rampant corruption in the Public Works Department and Water Resources Department. “The Congress government could not do in 10 years what Mr. Gowda could do during his tenure as Prime Minister,” he said.
