Illegal structures constructed on Chitwan’s public land being demolished

CHITWAN: The Ratnanagar Municipality has started demolishing the structures including houses and sheds constructed by encroaching upon public land as part of its campaign to identify and protect the public land within its borders.

In this connection, the Municipality on Sunday pulled down the house of local businessman Kamal Chandra Khanal which was illegally constructed by encroaching public land.

According to President of the Public Land Protection Committee, Hari Kumar Shrestha, the municipality has removed illegal structures constructed on 30 bighas of public land so far.

Various landmarks and facilities like bus park, eco-park, cultural village, public toilet, parking lot and resting sheds will be constructed in those public land cleared of illegal property, informed Acting Mayor of Ratnanagar Municipality Bimala Duwadi.
