Bengaluru: Rahul Gandhi's Janashirvada Yatra throw life out of gear

BENGALURU: Congress president Rahul Gandhi's Janashirvada Yatra may or may not have helped the party ahead of the assembly polls, but the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) are certainly raking in the moolah.

With the Janashirvada Yatra concluding day seeing 4000 buses being used, the KSRTC and BMTC made a profit Rs 4.25 crore.

For the Congress president's Janashirvada Yatra concluding day, 1,500 buses of KSRTC and 2,500 buses of BMTC were used.

However, the normal life was thrown out of gear, with huge traffic jams affecting the common man and people suffering because the bus scarcity. City passengers were seen travelling in overcrowded buses.


In Mekhri circle, traffic jam up to 4km could be seen even as passengers going to the airport were the worst suffers.


Amid all this, the embarrassing moment for the party was chief minister Siddaramaiah’s speech that saw empty chairs. While the programme started a little later, the attendance was not as expected, and after Rahul's speech, people started going out of the venue.
