Clean out the FBI corruption

I’m writing in response to Bill Moore’s March 21 letter to the editor, “Trump’s the epitome of a bad boss,” which deals with the firing of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Be it known that the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility headed by Candice Will, who was appointed by then-FBI Director Robert Mueller in 2004, recommended McCabe’s dismissal.

The Justice Department’s Inspector General, headed by Michael Horowitz, who was appointed by then-President Barack Obama, also recommended McCabe’s firing.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions then followed their recommendations.

It’s becoming clear to those who don’t rely on “fake news” that the upper echelons of the FBI were corrupted by politics. This cannot be tolerated.

The FBI has thousands of patriotic, dedicated and hard-working people. This stellar organization must not be tainted by a few.

What about DWI carnage?

I thought some of your readers might find it interesting to know that 118 teens have died in DWI-related auto accidents since the Feb. 14 tragedy in Parkland, Fla., and when I am writing this letter in late March.

The media is instantly excited and reports endlessly on any event of gun violence. However, daily carnage on our highways resulting from the abuse of drugs or alcohol is almost taken for granted.

Let’s have a march to #KeepOurHighwaysSafe. We’ll need some Hollywood celebrities and we can borrow the Patriots football team’s airplane to fly some marchers in from remote areas like Fairfax.

Wonder how many concerned students would turn out for such a demonstration?

Heartfelt thanks

My family and I would like to take this time to thank the emergency response personnel of the Lynchburg Fire Department and the Lynchburg Police Department for their kindness during the loss of my wife Barbara Agnew on March 28. They were a great comfort to us.

Thank you all for being here in a time of our greatest need.
