Chitnis: State stronger in social welfare, development

Woman and Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis said that the State has established new records in social welfare and development under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. More than 1.90 lakh anganwadi workers and sahayikas of the State have extended their support in the State’s development.

“Whether it is Ladli Laxmi Yojana or effort to check malnutrition, end to open defecation or School Chale Hum campaign, the cooperation of anganwadi workers and sahayikas is important in every work connected to the society.” Chitnis was addressing anganwadi workers and sahayikas who came from different districts of the state to attend the orientation programme of Rashtriya Poshan Mission organized at CM House.

Chitnis said that anganwadi workers have made a special contribution in turning 27 lakh girls into Ladli Laxmis of the state. In tackling the challenge of malnutrition, their efforts have resulted in bringing the graph of underweight and undernourished children down.

On working dedicatedly in far-flung areas of the state against anaemia under Lalima campaign and for haemoglobin test, she said that it is commendable that the anganwadi workers have spread awareness about the use of gooseberry and drumstick.

Chitnis said that be it the Udita Yojana run for teenage girls or the pink license scheme for making driving license, teerth darshan yojana or Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojana, immunization or institutionalized delivery, the implementation of all these schemes is possible only with the help of anganwadi workers. Chitnis thanked Chouhan for the integration of two units of Women and Child Development Department viz Integrated Child Development and Directorate of Women Empowerment.

Information of the various dimensions of Poshan Abhiyan through video presentation in the programme organized on orientation of Rashtriya Poshan Mission. Artistes of Jawahar Bal Bhavan presented dances and songs during the programme. Commissioner Integrated Child Development Project, Sandeep Yadav, Commissioner Directorate of Women Empowerment Jaishree Kiyawat and Project Director Nidhi Nivedita were present in the programme.
