Cape Town - Despite a heavy 52-31 defeat to the Lions in Johannesburg, Stormers coach Robbie Fleck remains upbeat about their chances in this year’s Super Rugby competition.
The Stormers are now 12 points behind the Lions in the South African Conference, but Fleck believes the men from Johannesburg can still be hauled in.
“The Lions still have to tour and it won’t be an easy tour. We have a lot of home comes coming up and I’m positive we can catch up,” Fleck was quoted as saying by Netwerk24.
The Lions’ four-week tour of Australasia will see them face the Waratahs, Reds, Hurricanes and Highlanders.
Fleck however admitted that his team needed to improve.
“It was unacceptable to concede eight tries. The better team won, but we’ll have to look at our defence because we also conceded soft tries against the Bulls.”
The Stormers have a bye this weekend before they tackle the Sharks in Durban on April 21.
After that, the Capetonians will enjoy playing four of five games at home.
