Various areas receive rain, coming days to be wet

Widespread light to moderate rainfall was reported at various parts of the state over the past 24 hours on Sunday. Following this, maximum temperature was reported to have dipped by a few degree Celsius in both the mountainous and plain districts. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has been forecast at a few places in Uttarakhand on Monday.

The meteorological centre official said that very light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places in Uttarakhand. Hail was also experiened at isolated places (Mussoorie) in the State. By 8.30 am on Sunday, 20 mm rainfall each was reported at Garud, Mukteshwar, Kapkot, Bageshwar while 10 mm each was reported at Jakholi, Almora, Mussoorie, Munsiyari, Keertinagar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Gangolihat. The highest maximum temperature 32.2°C was recorded at Jolly Grant while lowest minimum temperature 6.3°C was recorded at Mukteshwar. The Met office has forecast hail/squall at isolated places in Uttarakhand on April 8, April 10 and April 11. Meanwhile, residents in Dehradun experienced a cool Sunday due to cloudy sky and some drizzling during morning hours. While the maximum temperature settled at 30.5 degree Celsius the minimum hovered at 19.0 degree Celsius in the city on the day.

The weather forecast for Dehradun for Monday is mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. Uttarakhand meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said on Sunday that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from April 8 and it would remain active for the next three days. As per the chart sent by the weather department, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 27.0 degree Celsius and 16.8 degree Celsius, respectively. In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 16.4 degree Celsius and 6.3 degree Celsius. In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 20.4 degree Celsius and 9.0 degree Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degree Celsius and 19 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday, Singh said.

According to the meteorological centre, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has been forecast at a few places on April 9. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has forecast at many places accompanied by hail/squall at isolated places in Uttarakhand on April 10. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at a many places in Uttarakhand on April 11. Very light to light rain/thunderstorm likely to occur at isolated places especially in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on April 12.
