President Donald Trump has asked the Agriculture Department to come up with a plan to "protect our farmers," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Monday. Sanders declined to give any specifics but said the program would be presented shortly. Earlier, Trump said noted that China was targeting the U.S. farm sector in the tit-for-tat trade fight. "I wouldn't say that's nice, but I'll tell you our farmers are great patriots," Trump said. "They understand that they're doing this for the country. We'll make it up to them and in the end they're going to be much stronger than they are now," he said.
