PUNE: The Khadak police on Saturday detained a 16-year-old boy for stalking and threatening to throw acid on a 15-year-old girl.

The incident took place around 10am on Saturday when the girl, who resides in the same locality as the boy, was returning home. The boy has been booked under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking) and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A Khadak police officer said the boy had been stalking the girl for the past few days.

On Saturday, when he started following her again, the girl told him that she would file a police complaint against him. “The boy then began to abuse the girl and even threatened to throw acid on her,” the officer said.

The girl went home and informed her parents about the incident and later lodged a police complaint. “Our probe is on,” the officer said.
