Tirupur: City police have arrested two people in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old man on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as M Loganathan of Kulithalai in Karur district. “He was working in a printing unit in Tirupur. He was in a relationship with Kumari (name changed), a native of Ilapettai in Trichy district. Kumari’s husband Muruganantham, had warned them to end the affair,” a police officer said.
Recently, Loganathan and Kumari eloped to Krishnagiri before returning to Tirupur. “Muruganantham, along with Kumari’s younger brother Vairaperumal, planned to murder Loganathan. They contacted him over phone and promised that they would allow him to marry Kumari. In pretext of talks over the matter, they asked the couple to meet them at Sivasakthi Nagar near Parappalayam in the city. When Loganathan and Kumari reached the spot, Muruganantham and Vairaperumal hacked Loganathan to death,” the officer added.
Muruganantham and Vairaperumal have confessed to the crime, police sources said.
