How the perfect strategy helped Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel pip Mercedes to Bahrain Grand Prix victory

The 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix was a thrilling race that appeared to confirm that this year's championship fight could be even more interesting than last year's. Quite different from the five on-track overtakes in Melbourne two weeks ago, here we had 42.

The excitement was driven by differing strategies, some bad luck for Red Bull and some impressive drives across the field - no more so than Pierre Gasly in fourth for Toro Rosso. 

Come the chequered flag, though, Valtteri Bottas was not quick enough to pass eventual winner Sebastian Vettel. Nor was Lewis Hamilton, who started in ninth following a five-place grid penalty. He should not be too displeased with a podium, despite being helped by retirements...
