The thirteenth seat was held by former SP government minister Ambika Chaudhary.
No major political party including ruling Bharatiya Janata Party BJP has not announced their candidates for the poll. After securing a thumping win in the recently concluded biennial Rajya Sabha elections from the state the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party BJP is confident of securing at least 11 council seats on the basis of its brute strength in the assembly along with its allies.
