Abu Dhabi Police has arrested a man for growing marijuana saplings in his home.
Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhahiri, director of the directorate of Drug Control in the Criminal Security Sector, said that they had raided the man’s house following a tipoff and found the illegal cultivation.
When questioned, the man claimed he was not aware that it is a criminal offense and against the rules of the country. He planted them on an experimental basis and if successful, intended to expand the cultivation, police said.
The case was referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal proceedings against him.
