Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho issued Alexis Sanchez demand midway through Man City win
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho reportedly told Alexis Sanchez to step it up against Manchester City at the Etihad yesterday afternoon.
Manchester United came from two goals down to beat Manchester City in a stunning Premier League showdown.
Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan had City soaring but Paul Pogba’s brace and Chris Smalling’s late strike gave the Red Devils all three points.
Sanchez played a key role in Manchester United’s comeback, weighing in with two assists to silence the City crowd.
And the Manchester Evening News say Mourinho issued Sanchez some instructions at half-time.
It has been a rocky start to his Old Trafford career for the 29-year-old.
The Chile international has scored just twice so far, against Huddersfield and Swansea respectively.

In the first half against City, he had a look of a man lost in battle.
But he shone in the second, playing a key role in all three goals.
For Pogba’s first, Sanchez gave the ball to Ander Herrera who chested it into the Frenchman’s path.
And, for his second, it was his sublime cross that was headed home.
Sanchez then delivered a pinpoint cross for Smalling’s winner.
All three were examples of the United star cutting in from the left and using his favoured right foot.

And the MEN say this was planned by Mourinho, who gave the same instructions to Jesse Lingard.
Meanwhile, Pogba has revealed what Sanchez said to him before his City heroics.
“I know they like to attack so we had to get forward,” he said.
“I know when he [Sanchez] has the ball he likes to play, I saw the space and I just went. Luckily I was there.
“We lifted because we were 2-0 down – one goal and obviously your confidence goes up. Before the game he [Sanchez] said ‘I see you all the time, just make the run and I will find you.’”
