VIJAYAWADA: A PIL was filed in the Hyderabad High Court seeking to declare the YSR Congress MPs and MLAs who joined the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh as ‘ineligible’. The PIL also sought cancellation of the posts of those who were given Cabinet berths in the State after switching their loyalty to the ruling party.  The PIL sought disqualification of the turncoat legislators under the Anti-Defection Law.

As many as three MPs and 22 MLAs, who won on YSRC ticket in the 2014 election, joined the ruling TDP between March 1, 2016 and November 27, 2017, and of them four MLAs became State ministers. Petitioner Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, YSRC MLA from Mangalagiri constituency, sought court directions to the secretaries of the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly to take steps for disqualifying the above MPs and MLAs, respectively.

Though representations were made to the Lok Sabha Speaker and Assembly Speaker by the party, there was no response till date, he pointed out.

The MLA mentioned the promises made by the TDP government which included special category status, waiver of farmers loans, employment to each family and so on in the petition.
