Child, grandfather hospitalised after leopard attack in UP's Bahraich

A five-year-old boy and his grandfather were hospitalised with injuries after they were attacked by a at their home in a village here, forest officials said today.

The incident took place last night at Chahalwa village in the vicinity of Katarniyaghat wildlife sanctuary, they said.

The child, Kamalnayan, and his grandfather, Kunjilal, were asleep in the courtyard of their house when the attacked them, according to the officials.

"The boy was attacked by the while he was fast asleep. In a bid to save the life of the child, his grandfather took on the and suffered serious injuries," divisional forest G P Singh said.

Singh said that both the persons were currently undergoing treatment at a nearby community health centre.
