The Dighton Public Library invites all to learn about the benefits of solar energy in "Going Solar 101" on Thursday, April 19 at 6:30 at the library, 395 Main St. Ronald Bennett of the Rehoboth and Seekonk company Got Sun, Go Solar will give a presentation on bringing solar energy to your home. He invites you to bring your questions about how you can save money on energy costs while reducing your carbon footprint. This presentation is informational only. It is not a promotional meeting. Award-winning storyteller Karen Chase returns to the Dighton Public Library for April school vacation on Friday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 395 Main St. Chase shares tales from around the world. Children will be invited to sing songs about buzzing bees and beautiful butterflies, as well as be part of a story about a lady who grew the biggest sweet potato of all. The Fall River Public Library will  host a hands-on acrylic painting workshop for beginners through experienced painters. The painting class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 6 p.m. at the Fall River Public Library, 104 North Main St. Participants will paint a finished 16-by-20 inch acrylic painting on canvas in one class, using fun and easy-to-learn techniques that enable even first-time artists to paint fast and to paint well.

This beginner-friendly class is free, and all materials are provided. The painting workshop is limited to 25 participants. It is expected to fill quickly, so please call the library at 508-324-2700, Ext. 2, to ensure your place in the class. You may also sign up at the front desk.

The Portsmouth Historical Society and Portsmouth Free Public Library will host a book discussion of “American Jezebel: The Uncommon Life of Anne Hutchinson, the Women Who Defied the Puritans,” by Eve LaPlante. The program will be held Monday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. This will be the first of a series of discussions on books about local history selected by the Portsmouth Historical Society. Copies of this title will be available for checkout at the library one month prior to the program. This event is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Teen Fiction Book Discussion:Tuesday, April 24, 6:30 - 7:30: Teens and adults are welcome to join us for our monthly book club always held the last Tuesday of each month. This month's selection is Kids of Appetite by David Arnold. Summary: Teens Victor Benucci and Madeline Falco sit in separate police interrogation rooms telling about the misfits who brought them together and their journey sparked by a message in an urn. Consider joining the Walk and Talk Book Club on Wednesday April 11 at 9 a.m. Walkers will meet and talk about books while walking along historic Main Street and following the bike path. Every Monday is Adult Coloring Club from noon-2 p.m. Coloring pages and pens and pencils provided or bring your own.
