GREATER NOIDA: A residents’ delegation from Greater Noida under Active Citizens Group (ACG) held a meeting with UP excise and prohibition minister Jai Pratap Singh (in-charge of district
Gautam Budh Nagar) late Friday evening to discuss host of pending issues faced by the city.
In the meeting that took place at Gautam Budh Nagar University in the presence of Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, Jewar MLA
Dhirendra Singh and Noida authority CEO Alok Tandon, ACG members listed slew of pending civic issues for redressal. These include construction of underpass or flyover at
Pari chowk to address growing traffic, foot over bridge at Knowledge Park joining Jagat Farms for students’ safety, maintenance of parks and green belts and the need for public toilets at major crossings of the city.
“Greater Noida is known as the world's most modern and well-organized city. With the construction of the airport in Jewar, its importance will further increase. For the city to retain this significance it’s important that all effort should be made to ensure that there’s active efforts of the authorities, administrations, police and residents of the city. For this we suggested some measures and sought answers with minister Singh on Friday,” said Alok Singh, founder ACG.
ACG maintained that Pari Chowk has become a major center of traffic with problem area for recurrent and long traffic jams. “There's an immediate need to plan and think on lines of a flyover or an underpass in the area before the problem becomes unmanageable,” said Harinder Bhati, member ACG who also urged minister Singh for the creation of employment at the local level in consultation with the experts in this direction.
The residents also maintained that there's a crucial need of foot-over bridge to be constructed between Knowledge Park and Jagat Farm area in order to secure the safety of thousands of students who cross the area under the fear of constant accidents at the busy crossing.
Further, to curb the increasing encroachment in the city along with deteriorating greenery in the city, ACG members suggested that encroachment should be brought to the periphery of "zero tolerance" by
GNIDA and the responsibility should be given to the local police to take action on violators. “Strict steps should be taken in this direction,” said Bhati.
Bhati added that the supervision of parks and green belts is negligible. As a result, they are deteriorating into parched lands with overgrown and burnt shrubs and garbage dumping grounds. “These parks and green belts were made by spending a lot of money but because of neglect, both the environment and the money are being wasted with no respite to the residents,” said Bhati.
Bhati apprised minister Singh that a request for authorised parking arrangement in the Jagat Farm market is pending with Greater Noida Authority with no action on it so far. “Since it’s a large market, daily traffic snarls occur in the area leading to long jams in the absence of a designated parking,” said Bhati.
In addition to this while a demand for construction of public toilets at all main intersections of the city was raised, the ACG members also urged for a roundabout at
Vishwa Bharti intersection which is pending clearance since last 4 years. “Immediate authorization of the roundabout work should be imitated for the area,” said
Manjeet Singh, member ACG.
While minister Singh assured action on all counts in consultation with GNIDA and district administration, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh called for more frequent interaction of residents with authority officials.
Others present on the occasion include Ashish Sharma, Yogesh Bhati, Rahul Nambardar, Sandeep Bhati, Om Raizada, Rahul Narauli, Amit Chaudhary and Dhiraj.
