No politics involved in meeting CM: CPI(M)

‘Sought help in holding party meeting’

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has clarified that there was no political significance attached to the meeting of party’s Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu and State secretary T. Veerabhadram with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday.

The two CPI(M) leaders called on the Chief Minister to seek the government’s cooperation in the smooth conduct of the upcoming party’s national congress slated to start from April 18 and the Chief Minister has assured his full support to the event. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that Hyderabad has a reputation for its hospitality and no effort should be spared to ensure a comfortable stay for the CPI (M) delegates visiting from different parts of the country.

Mr. Raghavulu said the TRS’ proposal for forging a federal front at the national level figured in the deliberations and the CPI(M) leaders explained the Chief Minister about the intense efforts made by the Left in the past, which did not yield any fruitful results.

Replying to queries on the possible alliances with Jana Sena and Telangana Jana Samiti, Mr. Veerabhadram said neither the Jana Sena, headed by film actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan, nor the Telangana Jana Samiti announced by JAC chairman M. Kodandaram, have announced their policies. Social justice had become the agenda of all the political parties after the CPI (M) conducted padayatra across the State, educating the people about the alternative policy mechanism to reach out to the deprived sections.

He said the TRS government had failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people in terms of health, education and other facilities. “Development should not be looked at only from the GSDP growth angle and various factors including standard of living, health and education need to be factored in. There is no change in the living standards or availability of services to the people at the grassroots level, four years after the formation of Telangana,” he said, alleging that the Telangana government was continuing with the policies implemented by the previous government, with change only in nomenclature.
