DHADING:DHADING: Two Indian trucks, which were ferrying illegal goods and 167 kilo gram hashish to India after delivering goods in Nepal, were seized from Dhading district recently, police said.
Acting on a tif-off, police frisked HR 55 N 1910 container truck and recovered illegal electrical items and cigarettes from Majhimtar in Dhading district on Saturday evening, according to Dhading District Police Office chief Dhruba Raj Rawat.
“The items were hidden as false bottom inside the driver’s chamber. Items authorised only for sale in Nepal were being smuggled to India,” Rawat shared.
Police recovered 17,000 packets of Marlboro cigarettes made in Indonesia, three drones cameras of pentium 4, 1600 pieces of wrist watches and Chinese mobiles worth more than Rs 150 million.
The truck was heading to Muglin from Kathmandu, police said. Meanwhile, the container driver is at large.
Similarly, police also seized 167 kilo gram of hashish hidden inside a Indian container truck (HR 55 X 2549) heading to Birgunj from Kathmandu at a Galaudi Petrol Pump in Gajuri Rural Municipality-1 along Prithvi Highway in the district, today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ram Bahadur KC at the Dhading District Police Office said, “Police recovered 167 kg of hashish hidden as false bottom inside driver’s cabin.”
“As many as 7 sacks of plastic bags filled with hashish were recovered from the truck,” KC shared.
The truck driver 25-year-old Sashi Kanta has been rounded for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been kept at the DPO for further investigation, Dhading District Police Office informed.
