After their failed attempt to challenge the State Government’s decision to compulsorily implement the books of National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) in the High Court (HC), the private schools are now propping up some parents to register their protest on the issue of NCERT books.
On Friday, some parents had assembled outside the office of the state BJP and lodged their strong protest against the state government’s decision to implement the NCERT books. The agitators later met the state BJP Chief Ajay Bhatt and said that the state government should take back the decision on NCERT books and allow books of the private publishers as reference books. The agitation of this small group of the parents raises eyebrows as the state government had taken the decision of compulsion of the NCERT books in the interest of the parents and after their persistent demand in favour of NCERT books.
It is well known fact that the NCERT books are much cheaper and better in quality and content than the books of the private publishers. They staged demonstration at Gandhi Park in Dehradun on Saturday.
The president of the All Uttarakhand Parents Association (AUPA) Neeraj Singhal said that some private schools have become desperate after the government order on NCERT and they are now instigating some parents for registering protest against compulsion of the NCERT books. He claimed that some private schools are telling the parents that by compulsion of NCERT books there would be no difference in the quality of education in private and government school. Singhal said that these schools had planned started a strike in the schools against the NCERT books but on the tough stand taken by the HC their intensions failed to materialised. He said that the parents should understand the motive of the private school owners.
