Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying results: Confirmed grid after penalties – Hamilton ninth
LEWIS HAMILTON will start the Bahrain Grand Prix from ninth after being hit with a five-place grid penalty, but how will the rest of the grid line up?
Sebastian Vettel claimed pole position in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix with a “lion lap”, pipping Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen by less than a tenth of a second.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton put in the fourth fastest time but will start down in ninth after an unscheduled gearbox change in his Mercedes.
Max Verstappen also faces a tough race after crashing out in the first qualifying session, meaning he will line up in 15th.
Elsewhere, Toro Rosso youngster Pierre Gasly put in a storming drive to finish sixth fastest – which becomes fifth on the grid after Hamilton’s penalty.
