Guardians staging protest in front of the school | Express

JAIPUR: Tension prevailed at Jaraka under Dharmasala police station limits in the district after hundreds of guardians failed to get admit cards of their children to sit for entrance examination to get admission into Class VI in Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya at  Deulipala, Jaraka of Dharmasala block. The entrance test for the admission this year is scheduled to be held on 10 April. This time, around 450 students have applied for  getting admission into Class VI, which has only 40-intake capacity.

Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya, Dharmasala authorities had intimated the guardians of the students seeking admission into Class VI of Adarsh Vidyalaya to collect admit cards of their wards from the school office between 7 am and 11 am on Saturday. Accordingly, the guardians came to the school and sought the admit cards for their wards. But, the school authorities kept them waiting for hours together without issuing them the admit cards. Agitated, hundreds of guardians started protesting before the school office. The incident sparked tension and police force had to be deployed.

“I was told by the Adarsh School, Dharmasala authorities to collect the admit card  for the school entrance examination of my daughter from the school office today from 7 am to 11 am. I arrived at the school office at 7 am and asked for the admit card of my daughter, but in vain. I waited for about four hours, but every time they kept asking me to wait,” said Maheswar, a guardian.

“Despite several requests and waiting for four hours, the school authorities could not provide me the admit card today,” he said, adding that surprisingly, some guardians within no time collected their wards’ admit cards. Contacted, District Education Officer Krushna Chandra Nayak said he had received several complaints about the incident.  He assured the guardians of taking action against the erring officials if found guilty. Notably, to take admission into Class VI, a student has to appear for entrance examination scheduled to be held on April 10 across the district.
