KOCHI: ‘Seasons 2k18’, which offers a platform for the homemakers and women entrepreneurs dealing in handmade products on Saturday got under way at the Rotary Bala Bhavan in Panampilly Nagar here. Mayor Soumini Jain inaugurated the expo focusing on small-scale enterprises, including cloth designing, embroidery works, ornament making, recycling waste materials and manufacture of herbal products . “This venture aims to give a common platform to the small-scale producers, mainly the homemakers, who fail to get an opportunity to become part of the mainstream .The Mayor has been very enthusiastic about our initiative.” says, Zeenath Ashraf, coordinator of Seasons.
The idea first emerged through a Facebook community comprising women entrepreneurs and they intend to have a follow-up every season starting with this summer. Shibina Sameer, a young freelance designer, recalled how she had forayed into the after receiving positive feedback on the outfits designed for her kids. The common line running through the enterpreneurs - some of them refreshingly young in their twenties and the others equally young at heart despite their advancing years - is their urge to do something creative. ‘Seasons 2k18’will draw to a close on Sunday.
