Police launch campaign on child rights

Rural SP Rahul Dev Sharma on Saturday launched a campaign on child rights protection and anti-trafficking measures being taken up by Nature, a local civil society organisation, in collaboration with Visakha Rural Police and AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR).

Wall posters, information, education and communication (IEC) material on 20 themes were released at the District Rural SP Office. While releasing IEC, Mr. Sharma said through Police Department in association with the various line departments and local non-government organisations steps were being taken for mapping the vulnerable areas and promoting child rights and awareness programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, G. Hymavathi, chairperson of APSCPCR, said convergence efforts between various government departments could stop the child rights violence.

Additional SP G. Srikanth, Special Juvenile Police Unit officials, Assistant Commissioner, Education Danaiah, WCD CDPO Usharani, Nature founder- director S. Balaraju, Balavikas Foundation secretary Narava Prakasa Rao and others were present.
