Garlyn M. Kimm, 81, of Norway, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, in her home. Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Norway, with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michaels Cemetery, Norway. Garlyn was born Sept. 8, 1936, to Eldred and Lila (Emanuel) Brecht, in rural Watkins, Iowa. She graduated from Norway High School in 1954. Following high school, she started her family and began working for Collins Radio until her retirement in 1991.
Garlyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, shopping, going for walks, traveling, and always kept a tidy home.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Sandy) Kimm, Debra (Paul) Schutterle, Claudia Kimm, Tom (Lori) Kimm, Karen (Dave Berger) Kimm and Bill Kimm; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beth (Richard) Haage; brothers, Bill (Mary) Brecht and Terry (Linda) Brecht; sisters-in-law, Joy Brecht and Bernice Brecht; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Garlyn was preceded in death by her parents; companion of 25 years, Clarence Kramer; grandson, Dustin Stoddard; brothers, Richard, John, Eldon and Gary; and infant sister, Donna.
