Private sector should play active role in sports: Rathore

Union Sports today stressed on the need for private sector to play an active role in improving the country's sports infrastructure.

Speaking at the annual session of the (CII) here, the also stressed on the need of a summit, where the Indian and global manufacturers would participate and tell the central government how to make a global of sporting goods.

"Corporate sector is doing several works, but they are working in their separate directions. For instance, when our goes for a war, there is concentration of effort and attack on a specific point...

"Similarly, if we move forward, we have to join our forces including all corporate sector, industries. You (private sector) give employment, open academics, run leagues... We have to work in one direction so that efforts of (the) and corporate sector go in a specific direction," Rathore said.

The said if the private sector play an active role, there would be no dearth of funds in improving sports infrastructure.

The ministry of sports is "absolutely open" for all sorts of partnership, including managing all stadiums and creating new ones, he added.
