New uniform colours for high and higher secondary classes in government schools

The School Education Department has announced new uniform colours for students studying in high and higher secondary classes of government schools from the coming academic year. This change will help differentiate these students from those studying in the primary and middle school and also instil confidence in them, an official release said.

For those studying in classes 9 and 10, grey pants/salwar and pink shirt/kurta with checks has been prescribed for boys/girls respectively. For girls additionally, a jacket should be worn over the kurta. In the case of higher secondary students, the new uniform would be dark blue pants/salwars and shirts/kurtas with blue checks. These girls too get corresponding coloured jackets. Students of high and higher secondary classes would continue to buy their uniforms on their own as is the present practice, the release said.
