He said that it has held talks with one of its rivals about acquiring either all of it or just its assets.
Last year Hostmaker raised $15 million (£10.7 million) from Thai property developer Sansiri and Gaw Capital, the Hong Kong real estate and hospitality sector investor, to accelerate its expansion plans.
London accounts for around half of its business.
It also operates in Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon and Rome.
Hostmaker is expanding across Europe, with Florence, Cannes and Madrid set to be added to the list of cities that it operates in.
Sharma, a former Intercontinental Hotels strategy executive, said that it also plans to make its first foray into Asia in the summer, with Thailand and Hong Kong among the key markets that it wants to expand into.
The firm provides people who rent out their homes on platforms such as Airbnb with guest relations and fivestar hotel trained cleaning and maintenance staff, as well as pricing, photography and design services.
It focuses on high-end homes charging around £200 per night.
