Man attempts suicide over caste-based protests: Police

A 45-year-old man allegedly attempted suicide here, with the police saying that he was upset over caste-based protests and also had some tensions going within his family.

Raghuveer Gupta, a shop owner in city's area, sprinkled petrol on his body and set himself afire, DCP (west) said.

There were tensions within his family and was also upset over caste based divide and protests, he said.

The DCP said that the victim was admitted to Hospital with 80 per cent burn injuries from where his family members took him to for treatment.

The man is said to be a of (RSS) and the matter is still under investigation.
