CSMCRI to hold lecture on increasing soil salinity on April 10

Rajkot: The Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) will celebrate it’s 64th Foundation Day on April 10. Renowned agriculture scientist professor Mangala Rai, former director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural research (ICAR) and vice-chancellor G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology will be the chief guest for the function.

He will deliver lecture on the increasing soil salinity and how concentrated efforts are needed to move towards sustainable agricultural practices. On the occasion, CSMCRI would also organize a workshop “Igniting Scientific Curiosity” only for science school students. The aim of the workshop would be to create a scientific spark amongst young minds and entice them towards opting for science as a lucrative and nation building career option. During the workshop, students will be exposed to the basic principles of science in societally-relevant areas like water purification, environment conservation and chemical sciences.tnn
