CM Chandrababu Naidu plans protests across A.P.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday called upon the people to be prepared for Statewide protests against the denial of Special Category Status, which he said was part of a larger conspiracy to weaken the State.

He said the TDP MPs moved a no-confidence motion as a last resort, but to no avail, as the Central government dictated the proceedings in Parliament in such a manner that the motion was kept in cold storage.

Participating in a bicycle rally from Venkatapalem village in Thullur mandal of Guntur district to the Assembly on Friday as part of the Statewide stir for special status, Mr. Naidu said his party MPs waged a “relentless battle” against the Centre, and vowed to keep the fight going till the goal was achieved.

Mr. Naidu warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if his party did not change its attitude towards A.P. and conceded its legitimate demands, the BJP would meet the same fate as the Congress.

He said the YSR Congress was deriving mileage out of the issue by targeting the TDP instead of taking on the BJP.
