World's saddest dog: German pooch Madame Eyebrows becomes internet hit

The sombre mutt, dubbed Madame Eyebrows because of droopy eyebrow patches, has a downturned mouth and floppy ears.

But the English Bulldog is actually a joyful pup having amassed a whopping 32,000 followers on Instagram.

Snap-happy German owner Janina quipped: “You have to see her only a few minutes and you see that she is happy.”

The pup looking heart-broken in a handbag and her ears in pigtails as she mournfully poses next to some tinned dog food are just some of Madame Eyebrows’ top-rated pictures.

Madame Eyebrows is one in a handful of expressive pets who have gone viral.

The Grumpy Cat is perhaps the most famous of them all with her army of 2.4million followers on Instagram.

The sullen puss, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, became an internet sensation thanks to her permanently grumpy facial appearance caused by an underbite and feline dwarfism.

The cat first came to prominence when the brother of owner Tabatha Bundesen posted a snap of the cat of Reddit in 2012 prompting users to create hilarious parodies of the moody pet.

Since then, the Grumpy Cat has appeared on American TV, released books and even has her own line of merchandise bringing in a whopping $100million in just two years.
