Slices of love and comfort to help midnight cravings

BENGALURU:Pizza is comfort food. Despite all the innovations and experiments this classic Italian staple has been subjected to, there is something warm about a thin crust, stringy cheese and good tomato sauce. Smoke House Deli, Indiranagar, has introduced a new pizza menu and after sampling a few of them, we couldn’t help but take doggie bags home to satisfy those midnight cravings with these droolworthy slices.

To start with, we tried the mushroom, roasted onion and feta pizza. Plenty of feta, a crisp crust and smothered with mushroom and sweet caramelised onions makes this one a great option for its simple flavours.Seafood lovers, do give the smoked prawn and pesto pizza a try - the juicy prawn and pesto go great together. Our personal favourite from this new pizza menu was the roast chicken, garlic aioli and pickled vegetables pizza.

This one is loaded, creamy and the pickled veggies add a much-needed kick to what could’ve been just another boring roast chicken pizza that’s a staple at any spot serving pizzas.Another great option for meat lovers is the pepper bacon and Goan chorizo masala pizza. As with anything that’s got some chorizo on it, this pizza packs a bit of heat, but the smoky flavours and cheese made this an instant hit with us. Paired with their signature cocktails - if you haven’t tried their fruit, herb and floral infused cocktails, please do - these pizzas put us in a happy food coma. We ended the meal on a sweet note with the flourless chocolate fudge and a raspberry, oreo cheesecake, both of which are sinful. This special pizza menu is exclusive to the Indiranagar branch.

Cost for two: Rs 1,600
