Battle of budding managers on Kakatiya varsity campus

Students of five management colleges under Kakatiya University here are putting a range of skills to test at their annual meet, Mad Show 2018, which kicked off on Friday amid great fanfare.

For the uninitiated, Mad is an acronym for Management Aptitude Development.

The five colleges are jointly organising the two-day mega event under the name of ‘Synergy’ to commemorate the silver jubilee of the varsity’s business management department. With ‘Aadya’ as the theme, the meet has drawn scores of management students from within the State as well as from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

University Vice-Chancellor R. Sayanna, who inaugurated the event, told the budding managers that they should aspire to become employment providers rather than employment seekers. There are ample opportunities for those who can think out of the box; the sky is the limit for them, he asserted.

Stating that in the current competitive world, classroom learning does not make a student employable, and so interpersonal skills, emotional balance, team building, leadership qualities, ability to handle conflict and negotiate, setting goals and achievement motivation are key to proving oneself in the employment market, Prof, Sayanna remarked.

Commerce and Business Management dean S. Kamleshwar Rao Suryadevara said they are taking keen interest in making students employable and industry-ready by arranging industry interaction sessions.
