PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg high school tennis team took first place in the Pittsburg Invitational Tennis Tournament on Thursday. Bishop Miege tied with Pittsburg in total points with 28, but fell to second place based on their lower percentage of wins.
Devon McAfee took first place in No. 1 singles. After sweeping the competition in pool play McAfee defeated Bishop Miege’s Dempsey Shannon 8-3 to finish 3-0.
Dakota Caudle came in second place in No. 2 singles, after sweeping through pool play before losing to Bishop Miege’s Evan Acuff 8-1.
No. 1 doubles team Pat Sullivan and James Richie loss to Bishop Miege’s Noah Jackley and Garret Hagen 8-0 after going 2-0 in pool play to capture second place.
David Green and Noah Kangas won first place in No. 2 doubles after winning both games in pool play and defeating Bishop Miege’s Logan Lazarczyk and Gino Dodd 8-6 in the final game.
