Punjab Congress president and Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar on Friday said that the NDA Government has murdered the democracy by stalling Parliament's proceedings throughout the second half of the budget session.

Expressing resentment against the protest done by the BJP outside the Parliament House, Jakhar dubbed it as NDA Government’s “moral defeat”, while declaring it as “opposition’s win”.

He said that the BJP-led NDA Government had no answers on the issue of farmers’ plight, Nirav Modi scam, Raffael deal, the atrocities on the Dalits and other failures during its tenure. “As they wanted to run away from the debate, the NDA allies engineered total disruption in the Parliament so that they were saved the disgrace of getting exposed,” he said.

Asserting that it was totally absurd and bizarre on part of the Government to stage a dharna, Jakhar said that this does not exonerate it of its umpteen sins of omission and commission.

“Smooth functioning of Parliament is the responsibility of the Central Government but this Government has failed completely in its responsibility and this has exposed the anti-democratic face of the Modi Government,” said Jakhar.
