Dalit student stabbed

Rajkot: A Dalit student was manhandled and stabbed by six assailants in Jyotinagar area on Kalavad Road of Rajkot on Friday night.

The assailants also allegedly made disparaging comments on his caste.


According to the complaint lodged by Rahul Dafada (21) with University police station, he was attacked by Jitu Koradia, Ravi Koli, Kalpesh Koli and their three unidentified associates.


“Rahul said Jitu had made derogatory comments against him before Rahul’s fiancee and said that Rahul was a wrong choice for marriage. When Rahul went to take up the issue with Jitu, Jitu along with other accused attacked him,” an official from University police station said.
