1998 blackbuck poaching case: Bishnois disappointed, likely to move appeal

‘The actor needs to understand that he is not above the law’

Soon after Salman Khan was granted bail by a Sessions Court here on Saturday, members of the Bishnoi community expressed shock and disappointment on the order and said they would join the State government in filing an appeal in the Rajasthan High Court, seeking cancellation of the actor’s bail.

The All India Bishnoi Mahasabha was seeking legal opinion for joining the Forest Department in its appeal, which is likely to be moved next week. The Mahasabha’s executive member Ram Niwas Bishnoi said the ends of justice would be met only when Khan completed the full prison term for the crime of killing endangered blackbucks.

Jagmal Bishnoi of the Bishnoi Tiger Force alleged that the Central Jail authorities had extended VIP treatment to Khan and provided him with facilities to which no prisoner was entitled.
