Haryana Government has decided to follow a uniform academic calendar in all universities of the state so that the prescribed number of teaching days is maintained.
The decision was taken at a meeting of principals of all the 113 Government colleges held under the chairmanship of Jyoti Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, here.
Vijay Singh Dahiya, Director General Higher Education, Haryana presided over the meet. The Vice Chancellors of YMCA, GJUS&T also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, principals of colleges have been directed to provide students with time- table, I cards, syllabi, copy of the lesson plan, foundation booklets and orientation on the day they join the college to create a healthy student- friendly environment.
Arora said the department had come up with an innovative idea named PRAYAAS (Performance Rating Yardstick for Academic Audit Standard) which would promote a competitive environment among colleges and increase the spirit of teamwork and quality. PRAYAAS will facilitate National Academic Accreditation Council and the National Institute Ranking Framework accreditation, she added.
She said the Department of Higher Education is taking new initiatives to increase the number of placements of pass-outs and increase their chances of employability. New academic structure and new courses will also be introduced from the current academic session and 31 new colleges would be opened in the state, she said.
Principals of various colleges discussed the best practices they had evolved in their colleges, including e-library, digital education, free transport facility and eco- friendly college campus among others.
