GURUGRAM: A 31-year-old actuary was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his 17-year-old cousin in January. The crime came to life only after the girl’s family discovered that she was
pregnant.
Chandermani, the accused, was sent to judicial custody by a city court on Saturday.
Police said Chandermani, who is originally from the girl’s hometown in
Bihar, was working as an actuary with a Rewari-based transport company. The girl, a Class X student who lives with her family in
Wazirabad, suddenly started vomiting on Friday. Her family took her to a doctor, who told them that she was pregnant. When the girl’s parents questioned her, she told them Chandermani raped her during a visit to the family in January. The girl’s family then approached police.
On the basis of the minor’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused under Section 6 of POCSO Act at Sector 53 police station. Chandermani was arrested from his home in
Rewari on Friday night.
