HYDERABAD: Stating that M Kodandaram has got a good following among people, state BJP chief K Laxman has advised the chief of the newly-floated Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) not to join hands with the Congress in the run-up to the next Assembly elections.
“If Kodandaram fights against the state government and exposes its failures on his own, his party will be accepted by many people in the state. If he allies with the Congress, his party will turn out to be a complete dud as people are not ready to trust either the Congress or parties which support it,” Laxman said and felt that even if other opposition parties teamed up with the Congress, such an alliance would be a big flop “as people are not ready to believe the Congress.”
After unfurling the party flag at the party’s state office here on Friday on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the party’s foundation, Laxman addressed the party cadre before interacting with media persons.
Commenting on the newly-formed Telangana Jana Samithi by the TJAC president, Laxman said the professor had enormous clout with various sections of people, given his significant contribution to the statehood movement.
Laxman further said that his party would extensively organise agitations from June on state government’s failures in order to prepare the party cadre for the Assembly polls. “We are chalking out an action plan to organise mass-contact programme in every nook and cranny of the state. All the senior leaders of the party will take part in the programme,” he disclosed.
Ridiculing the claim of Congress leaders that their party was gradually regaining its lost ground in the state, the state BJP chief said the Congress had failed to perform its role as the principal opposition party.
TJS to use two-pronged strategy to win voters
Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), the political party floated by Prof M Kodandaram, has decided to adopt a two-pronged approach to reach out to various sections of electors in the State. For urban voters, the new party will use social media as a tool to propagate its ideology, whereas for the rural voters, the party will deploy cultural troupes to send its message to every house. As far as urban voters are concerned, the party has decided to replicate the strategy adopted by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, which had made Kejriwal victorious. According to TJS leader Gurijala Ravinder Rao, the TJS has already begun utilising social networking sites such as Facebook and also the messaging App, WhatsApp, to spread the objectives of the newly-formed party. “We have been active on social media, ever since the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) began exposing the failures of the State government. Now, after floating the new political party, we have intensified campaign on social media,” he said. The party has formed various committees which in turn will deploy party teams in each village.
