Imported liquor smuggling racket busted

A team of Bagodar police station busted a racket in smuggling of imported liquor and arrested two people, Pintu Patel and Suraj Karmali, belonging to Bihar.

The police seized 56 cartons of various imported brands worth around Rs 5 lakh and recovered a Tata pick up van used to commit the crime, said SDPO Deepak Kumar Sharma.

According to officer-in charge of Bagodar police station Rajeev Kumar ,on Thursday ,specific input was received by Bagodar police station regarding transportation of imported liquor illegally in a Tata pick up van late in the night on Thursday –Friday.

The information further revealed that the van ,duly loaded with imported liquor will pass through NH-2 (GT road ).

Immediately ,a team of Bagodar police including myself was formed by SDPO ,Bagodar and a trap was laid around at near Jharipul on NH -2.

Around 2 am on Friday, the police team intercepted one Pickup van and overpowered its occupant Pintu Patel and Suraj Karmali.

While searching the van, 56 cartons of imported liquor was recovered .

During inquiry, the accused Pintu and Suraj disclosed to have disclosed to have procured the said imported liquor from Barwada transporting to Bihar, added officer-in charge.

A case was registered at Bagodar police station and investigation is on.
